My Anxiety is Gone

Anxiety. The Worst.

Anxiety. Could there be a more uncomfortable sensation? The racing heart, the flushing skin, the feeling of doom, the paralysis, the circular thoughts. In 2020, my anxiety got so bad, I thought it would take over my life. I genuinely wondered if I would ever be myself again. Some days, I actually feared I might die. Can you relate? Have you ever felt so controlled, so consumed by your anxiety, that you couldn’t see past the hazy fog, even for a moment?

Today, I can honestly and truly say: my anxiety is gone. My anxiety is gone, and I am free. And now, I want to share my story with you, because I want you to be free, too.

Where My Anxiety Started

If I could have looked forward to today back then in the thick of my fear and despair, I don’t think I could have believed it. I was a shell of a person, barely eating, unable to work. It all started with some trouble sleeping for several nights in a row in the year 2020. The world was tense; everything was in flux. The insomnia started to make me anxious about whether I’d be able to fulfill my responsibilities the coming day. I’d lay up all night, anxious and restless. Then, when day came, the anxiety surged. No sleep, and now it’s morning? How can I even get out of bed?

Anxiety plagued me all day and all night for weeks. There was never a breath, never a moment of relief. I began to look for answers in every corner and crevasse of the web.

I read books, I tried meditation and relaxation techniques, I used many different supplements, I tried Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. But I was SO wired, none of these coping techniques seemed to work for me. I just couldn’t relax enough to calm down and focus my mind and body on recovery. It probably didn’t help that I was getting NO sleep!

Anxiety and insomnia can create a viscous, suffocating cycle. Lack of sleep causes mood disturbances, exacerbates feelings of anxiety, fear and paranoia, and makes it difficult to focus. The increased anxiety during the day from lack of sleep makes it harder to fall asleep the next night. This then leads to further insomnia. It can feel impossible to escape. Can you relate?

A Hidden Solution

The solution to my problem came very suddenly and very unexpectedly. A pocket-size, cream box and a tangle of wires, hidden in the back of a technology drawer. Who would have thought that something so small and random could reset my nervous system, rescue my stressed-out brain, and give me my life back?

It was my Dad who pulled out this little machine and handed it to me. He called it the “sleep machine.” You see, my Dad is a chiropractor and acupuncturist. He had found this little device almost 10 years previously at a trade show for holistic healthcare technologies. He used to offer it to us kids whenever we had trouble sleeping. But most of us were grown now, so the little box had been sitting in a drawer for many years, forgotten until this moment.

“This is a microcurrent device,” he explained. “It treats the area of your brain responsible for mood and emotions using electricity. It’s fantastic for anxiety and insomnia. I’ve used it many times myself. The studies backing this thing are incredible.”

I was skeptical. How could he possibly think this simple solution could solve the problem that had been plaguing me for weeks? Also, who wants to ZAP their brain?! I read the logo. “CES ULTRA,” it read.

He assured me that this CES Ultra device had an extremely impressive and robust safety record, that it had been around for decades, and that it was totally painless. I wouldn’t feel a thing! He showed me how to use it. I just had to clip the little black clips onto my ear lobes and turn the device on, then set the stimulation level to my comfort. It would treat my brain while I went about my day.

It was so simple, so painless, and totally free. How could I say no? What did I have to lose? For the first time in my month of torture, I finally felt like I could see a glimmer of hope.

The First Night of CES Ultra

I didn’t expect anything to happen right away. I knew this longstanding pattern of disorder in my brain would take time to work itself out. Even if this device was as amazing as my Dad said it was, I knew that even medication took weeks to start working, if it worked at all. And I figured there was no way this microcurrent thing could work better than medication. Hint: I was wrong.

I used the CES Ultra twice that day; once in the morning, and once in the evening, a few hours before bedtime. I still felt extremely anxious as nighttime approached and I considered the sleepless hours that lie ahead. Only, the sleepless hours didn’t last nearly as long as I expected them to. I was able to fall asleep by 1:00 AM for the first time in weeks, and I slept 6 hours straight that night. I woke around 7:00 AM, absolutely shocked.

No, these results aren’t typical; it doesn’t happen that quickly for everyone, but it did for me, and it was the big “RESET” that I really needed to start having faith in my body’s innate ability to heal.

What surprised me even more than the night of sleep was the lack of anxiety I felt when I awoke. The worries still came, the thoughts spiraled into a circular, turbulent storm, and yet, I felt very little physical anxiety. I waited for the flushing skin, the racing heart, the nausea… it didn’t come. At least not nearly to the degree I’d felt it before. When I start to feel the physical sensations kick in, I was actually able to breathe, to turn to mindfulness, to talk myself down. I wasn’t as afraid of the anxiety anymore. This was beyond my wildest hopes.

One Month Later…

I continued to use CES every day, twice a day, for then next month. It was my rescue when I felt anxious thoughts and feelings creeping in. I carried it with me everywhere. After the first week, the anxious sensations were virtually gone. It took several more weeks for the anxious thoughts to begin to fade, but they did. As my anxiety waned, my sleep returned. Blissful, deep, restful, restorative sleep. Sleep came easily, and I woke feeling rested. After a month of CES, I felt completely myself again. I still experienced little worries, doubts, and fears, but I was able to combat them using the strategies I’d learned through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I never spiraled out of control.

Recovery is always a roller coaster. In the coming months, I experienced relapses, but they never lasted more than a few hours, or perhaps one night of difficult sleep. Whenever I struggled, I turned to CES. I used it as often as I needed it. Soon, I was only using it a few times a week, if it all. The best part was, the balance and wellbeing I’d achieved remained, even after CES was no longer part of my routine. I felt calm, able to cope with my stress, and optimistic about my future.

My Anxiety is Gone

Today I feel I can truly say “My anxiety is gone. My insomnia is gone. I have been made new.” Sure, I sometimes have trouble sleeping, just like any human being. Sure, I sometimes feel a little bit anxious about an upcoming big event. But I am no longer a slave to these feelings. A rough night doesn’t trouble me anymore–it’s just a part of being human. I know that if I ever feel like my anxiety or insomnia has returned, CES will help me “reset” and move forward, balanced and settled.

Now, my mission is to share my story with the world. There are so many people out there who are needlessly suffering with their mental health. From all manner of anxiety disorders, to sleep troubles, to sadness, to depression. The world we live in is fast-paced and full of stimulation and stressors. It’s no wonder our nervous systems sometimes have trouble coping with the weight of the world.

But the truth is, you don’t necessarily have to suffer. Depression, anxiety and insomnia are all highly treatable. Even if conventional medicine or therapy have failed you, there is hope. Medication isn’t the only option. Spending thousands of dollars on therapy isn’t the only option.

Considerations and Contraindications

If you’re pregnant, struggle with epilepsy, have an implanted electronic medical device like a pacemaker, or have another health condition of concern, you should only use CES under the direction and supervision of a medical provider, so talk to your doctor first. However, for the vast majority of patients, CES is extremely safe and brings only POSITIVE side effects (think heightened clarity, reduced brain fog, increased awareness).

Make sure to purchase an FDA-cleared CES Ultra. Don’t fall for the knock-off versions on sites like Amazon and Alibaba. They are often NOT tested, NOT FDA-cleared, do NOT use the right frequencies, and are NOT proven safe! Don’t risk it! Go with the CES Ultra. It’s the most highly researched CES device on the market, but it’s still extremely simple, user-friendly, and understated. No extra bells and whistles that will only get in your way.
